Anheuser Busch Bud Light: Brand Boycott

Anheuser Busch is the parent company of Bud Light, a popular American light beer.
Some beer drinkers began boycotting Anheuser Busch brands after Bud Light formed a marketing partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Bud was hoping to attract a younger audience to the brand to underpin sales growth and its status as the top selling beer in the US.
But the controversy became the latest chapter in America’s culture wars with conservatives taking aim at the beer for “selling” out its brand to identity politics amid cries from drinkers to boycott Anheuser Busch.
Bud tried to walk back the partnership after controversy and Bud Light Boycott exploded, which led to the company being criticised by trans activists for backing down! It’s sale suffered a slump after the issue and it was supplanted as the top selling beer in the US by Modelo Especial.
