Miller Brewing Company beers are popular with US drinkers. Following the Bud Light boycott controversy, some American beer drinkers are looking to drink beers that aren’t owned by Anheuser Busch InBev, the giant global beer conglomerate that owns Bud Light and controls much of the beer market.

Is Miller Lite a Good Bud Light Replacement?

Miller Lite, like Bud Light, is an American light lager. Miller Lite is designed to have a crisp and refreshing taste without too much hop driven bitterness in its taste.

Our judge Andy Sparhawk found it hard to choose between the two beers when he tasted Bud Light and Miller Lite side by side for this review.

Miller Lite is a very similar beer to Bud Light in terms of taste and calories (96 to 110) and ABV (4.2% for both). Miller Lite is slightly more expensive than Bud Light.

Why Are People Boycotting Bud Light?

If you read this far, you are probably familiar with the Bud Light boycott in the wake of the Dylan Mulvaney controversy. But in case you aren’t, here is a brief explanation.

Bud Light has endured months of controversy after its promotion with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney sparked a backlash from customers and celebrities.

The issue has spiralled out of control for what used to be America’s best selling beer brand with angry customers – and singer Kid Rock – shooting Bud light cans in protest and calling for a boycott of Bud Light and other Anheuser-Busch beer brands.

It’s spawned a slew of memes poking fun at Bud Light over the promotion, which was thought to be an attempt to attract young drinkers to the brand.

The controversy caused a dip in sales for Bud Light and even impacted parent company Anheuser Busch’s stock price.
